Squeaky One Tooth…

Today is Viv’s birthday and Callum gave her a lovely present…..

He’s got his first tooth, I know this sounds blah to the non-parents (aka people with lives) but for those of us who are adding to the gene pool it’s kind of exciting.

Cal has been showing all the signs of teething so it’s nice to see something coming out of it.

Cal is getting REALLY close to proper crawling, in addition to the spinning on the spot and impersonating a preying mantis he has also started commando crawling.

It won’t be long before Cal will be terrorising his big brother…

Busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest

One of lifes great ironys is that when you really should be blogging (i.e. when you’re busy) you don’t have the time to do it :(

Many things have happened since my last post and really I should post them separately but for the moment I’m lumping them all in together.

 • Seth is in his own "Big Boy" bed.
 • Callum is on "solid" food
 • We had Christmas with lots of presents for the boys
 • We had New Years
 • I bought a PSP and a Video Camera courtesy of American Express Rewards Points.
 • I’m nearing the end of two weeks at home with my lovely wife and my boys.

As you can see, a few things have happened recently.

There's a new kid in town…

Last night at approx 5:04pm my sister Rachel gave birth to her second child.

Lachlan John Whyte

The usual statistics

 • Weight: 3.36 kg
 • Length: 51.5 cm
 • Head: 36.5 cm

Mum and baby are doing well.

( Is it just me or does Lachlan look like a clone of Michael?? )

I haven’t seen them yet as I had to work last night :(

I’ll add to this post after I see them tonight.

There seems to be a trend developing here, let’s look at the events to date

Rachel has a boy – Michael
Viv has a boy – Seth
Viv has a boy – Callum
Rachel has a boy – Lachlan

Who will be the first to have a girl???

Watch this space ;)

(2005-09-01 10:05) UPDATE: I’ve added a picture and, no I still haven’t seen them :( I’m set to pop around for a visit tonight.

Squeaker in Da House

I know it’s late again….

On Saturday Viv and Callum ( aka squeaker ) finally returned home, now the fun begins :)

Viv is well, tired and sore, but well.

Squeaker is, well, alternating between being asleep and squeaking for the boobie..

It’s great to have the family all together. Seth doesn’t seem to know what to make of Callum, he basically ignores him completely unless he’s actually crying at which point Seth will look in his direction to see what’s going on.
I have noticed Seth peeking his head over the edge of Callums cot at times so he probably is a little curious.

We’re looking forward to watching the boys grow up together ( perhaps with another brother or sister in the not too distant future ).

Watch this space for the further adventures of Teeny and Squeaker…..

It's a boy….

Well, finally the event we’ve all been waiting for, the birth of number 2.

At approx. 11:48am on 21/06/2005 an icky, squirming, crying bundle of joy burst forth into the world.

Officially he is called

Callum David Drysdale

but we’ve already nicknamed him “Squeaker” in honour of his funny squeaky little cry that is reminiscent of a baby bird begging mum for a worm.

Callum

Now I just need squeaker and Viv to come home, hopefully this will happen on Saturday.

UPDATE: I realised after I posted this that I had forgotten to include the usual statistics so here they are.

 • Weight: 3.790Kg (8 lbs 5oz)
 • Head: 38cm
 • Length: 49cm

Happy McWeenie Day !!!

Today is our little boys 1st birthday !!!

It’s hard to believe that 12 months ago Viv and I were at the hospital and Viv was going through a day of hell trying to bring our little Teeny man into the world.

It’s been a very interesting year, sad times, frustrating times but mostly happy times.

I wouldn’t swap a second of our time with Teeny for any amount of money.

Not that you can understand me now little guy, but I want to wish you a happy birthday and all the best for the year ahead.

It only takes a second…

How often do we hear a parent on TV saying

“I only took my eyes off him for a second….”

Words like these often form the lead in to a story about a tragedy that could easily have been avoided.

So, why am I telling you this??

This morning Seth took a tumble down the stairs, no damage was done save for a bruise on his otherwise perfect face.

No doubt this will be the first of many scrapes, bumps and bruises that he will incurr on the perilous journey to adulthood.

Last weekend we bought a gate for the top of the stairs from Babies Galore at Westfield Hornsby.

At the bottom of the stairs we have a big wooden barrier that slides into grooves on the wall and banister, it is extremely effective but a bugger to open and close, especially with the bub in one hand and the barrier in the other, it is also easy to forget to put it up when you bring the little guy down in the morning ( or after a nap ).

This weekend we’ll be popping into Babies Galore and picking up another gate for the base of the stairs, it’s much easier to remember to close a gate and we should be able to avoid any further stair diving from the little guy.

Construction is progressing well…

Viv, Mum and I went to Westmead Hospital today for the 18 week ultrasound for “goober”.
We thought that Viv was approx 19 weeks into the pregnancy but after measuring various bits the ultrasound suggested that she was really approx 21 weeks.

It appears that all the right bits are there and there is no sign of abnormality which is wonderful.

We asked for the sex of the little one and both the sonographer and the Doctor are convinced that goober is a boy.

So, without further ado, please give a warm welcome to

Callum David Drysdale

he is due to make his debut sometime in the first half of June.

Teeny Tizzies

Riddle me this Batman..

When I come home of an evening, Seth charges over to me ( sort of a crawling charge anyway ) and pulls himself up on my legs, I then have to pick him up and give him a cuddle.

If, after that, I try to leave his sight then he bursts into tears, clearly he is pleased to see me.

However, if I try and give him a kiss ( or Tizzy as we say at our place ), at best he will turn his head away and at worst he tries to gouge out my eyes.

Now, Viv doesn’t seem to be subject to the line of sight restrictions that I am, but, and it’s a big BUT, she gets at least 3-5 Tizzies a day from the little guy.

So, what gives???
